A Jewish businessman and social media influencer known for his popular sports bars was enraged by a sign reading “F– the Jews,” which was placed at a venue that he owns.

The sign was placed on a private booth at Barstool Sansom Street in Philadelphia on Saturday evening.

The patrons who apparently put up the sign featured it in numerous videos posted to their social media accounts.

In one video, a waitress is shown holding up the sign to the camera.

Dave Portnoy, whose company Barstool Sports operates numerous successful sports-focused nightclubs and bars, as well as creates viral comedic videos, took to social media to express his frustration with the antisemitic incident.

“I’ve been shaking. I’ve been so… mad for the last two hours,” Portnoy said in a video he posted to his X account.

“I’m going to make it my life’s…mission to ruin” the people who placed the sign in his business, he said, adding that “I’m coming to your throat.”

Portnoy stressed that he was “on the trail” of those who had placed the sign, then posted a video update hours later that he had identified the culprits.

The entrepreneur said he had fired members of the bar’s waitstaff, who apparently had continued servicing the customers after they placed the sign, in violation of the venue’s policies.

“We are saddened, embarrassed, and frustrated by the deplorable actions of a customer and misguided staff acting outside the scope of their duties, which resulted in antisemitic hate speech last evening at our establishment,” Barstool Sansom Street wrote in an Instagram statement.

“Unfortunately, several employees ignored all of their training and the organization’s written policies regarding our zero tolerance policy for discrimination and hate. Instead, the employees complied with a customer’s request for a sign in connection with ordering bottle service.”

A Temple University student who is believed to be involved in the incident was suspended from the school, the university’s president wrote in an open letter.

“In the strongest terms possible, let me be clear: antisemitism is abhorrent,” Temple University president John Fry wrote.

“It has no place at Temple and acts of hatred and discrimination against any person or persons are not tolerated at this university.”
