The pair, from Kerala, India, and another man named Rasheed alias Muhammand Shafi – who allegedly masterminded the killings – have been arrested.

According to cops, the trio “sacrificed” two women, both in their 50s, “in the name of superstition and black magic”.

The couple also believed killing the women would help better their financial situation, it is reported.

The first victim went missing in June, while the second disappeared in September.

Cops discovered body parts in the couple’s home this week.

Shafi had told the husband and wife that eating the cooked remains would “help them preserve their youth”, news18 reports.

Police allege Shafi “convinced” the couple to carry out both murders.

Kochi City Police Commissioner CH Nagaraju said: “We have recovered all parts of the bodies of the two women who were killed.

“Parts of the body of one of the victim women were recovered from three pits where they were buried.

“Prime accused Shafi used Facebook to find people with financial difficulties.

“He found Bhagaval Singh and Laila as a couple interested in human sacrifice.”

Police say Shafi was on bail in after being accused of raping a 75-year-old woman when the killings were carried out.

The trio are being held in custody until October 26, when they will appear in court.
